A historical drama based on Homer’s poem The Iliad. The story takes the audience back to 1193 B.C., when the Trojan heir Paris kidnapped the wife of Menelaus, the king of Sparta, Helen the Beautiful. King Agamemnon stands up for the honour of his deceived brother at the head of a huge army.

A mighty army led by the indestructible warrior Achilles besieged the city of Troy. Only cunning and courage were able to turn the tide of this prolonged battle to one side. But the price of victory was too high.

Eric Bana and Brad Pitt, who played Hector and Achilles, performed most of the stunts without understudies. For this purpose they trained before filming for more than half a year, learned to wield a sword and a spear, to ride a horse, and Pitt even quit smoking.

Initially, the director did not plan to introduce Helen into the plot, but when the studio insisted, he chose the little-known actress Diane Kruger for this role.
