The amount of food is calculated for all of the prisoners, but the people on the upper floors gorge themselves, while those on the lower floors starve and engage in cannibalism. Gorgen is not resigned to the system and, having met a like-minded man, decides to fight.
The thriller is overflowing with semantic clues. For example, the tower has 333 floors, and the number of inmates is 666. That is, the tower essentially represents hell. In addition, the numbering of the tower floors goes from bottom to top, repeating the circles of hell, like the Italian poet and thinker Dante Alighieri.

Two Madrid homicide detectives investigate the murder of teenage girls in a deep province near the marshy Guadalquivir River. Juan and Pedro have different personalities and hold different political views. Pedro leads a healthy lifestyle and has always been a democrat, Juan is an emotional drinker with a dark past. But now the detectives need to forget their differences and confront the maniac together.
The Spanish noir detective was nominated in 17 categories at the 29th annual Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain Goya Awards and won 10 of them, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor.
