Twin Peaks

Agent Cooper’s life has changed dramatically and he has to return to a distant provincial town. The story, which began with Laura, is not over yet, and again reminds us of itself.
Unlike the first seasons, the action of the 2017 series extends beyond Twin Peaks, taking the viewer to South Dakota and Las Vegas. David Lynch noted that he could make another season of the series, but it would take a long time.
The Haunting of Hill House

After his wife’s accident, Hugh and the children leave the cursed place. But the ghosts of the past force the family to return to the house to find out what happened back then.
Interestingly, one of the daughters, Shirley was named after the author of the original and represents anger. The other children similarly represent the stages of grief – denial, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

‘Very Stranger Things’ is one of the best mystery series of the twentieth century, with many references to 80s pop culture. The writers originally wanted to do a remake of Stephen King’s ‘It’ at all, but dropped the idea.

In particular, Sir Malcolm Murray and the psychic Vanessa are interested in the hunt for the evil spirits, and they have teamed up to rescue Mina Harker from vampire captivity. They will be aided in this effort by the gunman Ethan Chandler and the famous Dr. Victor Frankenstein.
The original name of the series was used in the old days to refer to cheap popular literature about detectives and the supernatural.
Servant

Now a doll lives in their house, in which the woman sees her dead baby. Unable to cope with the tasks of motherhood, she hires a nanny, and she does not seem to notice that she is taking care of the doll. With the arrival of the servant, more strange things began to happen in the house.
For the filming of the series, the special doll was created, which at first strongly resembled a living child, so it had to be remade.

The series is based on the 2004 film The Departed. Similarities are also found in the 1971 Brazilian novel The Antares Incident by Erico Verissimo.

Together they become convinced that Rance was telling the truth: furniture is moving in the house and muffled voices can be heard behind the walls. The two priests will have to confront a great evil, which, as it turns out, has much bigger plans and is not limited to one family.
The series is based on the 1973 film of the same name, which was based on the book by William Peter Blatty.

During the series, the number 47 appears frequently, which is related to J.J. Abrams’ participation in the ‘Star Trek’ reboot. The film argues that the series mentions this number too often.

On his way to the funeral, he meets a mysterious man who introduces himself as Mr. Wednesday. And for a stranger, this man knows all too much about The Shadow. The man does not yet know that after this meeting he will have to engage in a real war between the ‘new’ and the ‘old’ pantheon of gods.
The role of Mr. Wednesday could have been played by Nicolas Cage, but he had to decline the offer because he was busy.

No fewer problems fall to the lot of Nandor Guillermo’s familiar, who wants to become a vampire. But instead, he is forced to fulfil all the whims of the vampires in the hope that his efforts will be appreciated.
The series is based on the 2014 film Real Ghouls, which also has a spin-off, Paranormal Wellington.

Among all foreign mystery series, ‘American Horror Story’, which is an anthology of unrelated stories, is particularly and unremittingly popular. And the horror-inducing characters are not always ghosts and other evil creatures – sometimes the antagonists of the series are ordinary, but far from innocent people.
Many of the actors return in subsequent seasons but in a different roles. Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson have appeared in all but season nine.
The Leftovers

But the busy lord has no time to look after the children, so he hires Dani Clayton to take on the role of nanny. At first, the children seem nice and well-mannered girls, but the more time she spends with them, the more strange things she notices.
The series is based on the novel The Turn of the Screw by Henry James, and series is named after the ghost stories by the same author.
The Outsider

Another new 2020 mystery series is based on the novel by horror king Stephen King. An ordinary teacher’s life collapses in an instant when he is accused of the gruesome murder of a young boy. Without waiting for the results of the investigation, Detective Anderson hangs the stigma of ‘murder’ on the teacher, making him an outsider in his hometown.
But, as in many of King’s works, the case turns out to be no simple murder. The characters have to face otherworldly forces and make sure that many nightmares are quite real.
One of the heroines of the series, Holly Gibney is a favourite King character. Previously, viewers could see her in the series ‘Mr. Mercedes’, but played by a different actress.
Locke & Key

The show is also notable for the fact that each episode of the show, except for the pilot, contains puzzles that are glimpsed in a particular frame.

According to the first idea, the series should have been called ‘The Depths’. Its plot is somewhat reminiscent of the Polish film, Daughters of the Dance (2015) about the mermaid sisters.

‘Darkness’ is the third Netflix project is not in English. Initially, Netflix wanted to create a series based on the film ‘Who Am I’ (2014), but the authors of ‘Darkness’ did not express interest and insisted on their own original script.

Although not listed in the credits of the series, it is based on Ray Bradbury’s short story ‘Zero Hour.’

In the late seventeenth century, the town of Salem was gripped by one of the first mass hysteria in the history of the United States – about 20 people were executed for witchcraft. It is not known for certain whether they were guilty. The events of the series Salem cover that period, but the creators explicitly say that witches do run rampant in the town.

Fans of classic horror movies will be interested in the show, as it is full of references.
