An emergency landing on the Philippine island of Jolo turns into a confrontation for pilot Brody Torrance with an armed gang wanting to take all the passengers on his plane hostage in this film.

Brody (Gerard Butler) is a former Royal Air Force pilot, most recently working on commercial flights in Southeast Asia. After the flight, he planned to be reunited with his daughter for Christmas, but it looks like those plans will have to be postponed. One day a CIA agent hires him: first, the secret service needs to take pictures from high altitude, then to establish contact with an important Panamanian military man, and then to transport weapons for the rebels of Nicaragua…

In the course of all these assignments, Barry manages to establish business relations with the Medellin cartel: this criminal association is engaged in drug trafficking. The CIA overlooks such “trucking”, but the FBI does not doze off.

The story of Howard Hughes is the story of a boy who became the owner of a huge business empire… He always dreamed of the sky and could be truly happy only among the clouds, where everything is decided exclusively by the skill of the pilot controlling the winged machine.

During his life he managed to fly for a record time from the USA to the Soviet Union, to work for the American military, to be a partner of many popular actresses of the western screen – and, in the end, to turn into a terrible paranoid, which is very difficult to bear near him.

The author’s version of the film also tells the story of how Mr. Hughes was diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder, which led to his extreme suspiciousness.

Chesley Sullenberger is one of the men piloting a passenger plane that collided with a flock of birds. He was barely able to make his car land on the water of the Hudson River. Surprisingly, despite the dangers of such a landing, there were no casualties on board; everyone was evacuated from the held-on-water plane fairly quickly, and the matter seemed to be settled.

Nevertheless, Sullenberger was considered responsible for his and his assistant’s failure to land earlier – when the plane was already damaged, they were flying near a couple of airports… The ship’s commander is still awaiting trial.

No crash has ever happened without at least not too many casualties; the pilot in this film about airplanes, based on real events, managed what seemed in his time to be simply impossible.
